Dr. Kostas
A. Katsavdakis is a licensed psychologist with extensive experience
in forensic evaluations, and the clinical assessment and treatment
of juveniles and adults. With over 16 years of diagnostic and treatment
expertise, Dr. Katsavdakis has been at the forefront of assessing
and helping adults and children who suffer from mental illness,
and providing comprehensive forensic evaluations to social service
and criminal justice agencies, Courts and attorneys.
Dr. Katsavdakis earned his B.A. from Bernard M. Baruch College
in 1991, and his PhD from the California School of Professional
Psychology, San Diego in 1996. He completed 2 post-doctoral fellowships,
one at the prestigious Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, where
his responsibilities included serving as the primary interviewer
in week-long intensive diagnostic evaluations of juveniles, adults,
and impaired professionals (physicians, lawyers, clergy, and executives).
Dr. Katsavdakis returned to New York City in December 2002,
serving as the Assistant Director of Psychology of a forensic psychiatric
hospital. He currently teaches courses in psychology and the law,
psychology of criminal behavior, and forensic psychological testing
at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. His private practice
includes forensic assessments and the clinical evaluation/treatment
of adults and juveniles.
Dr. Katsavdakis conducts workshops and lectures to various
law organizations and medical institutions, including the New York
State Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Nassau County District
Attorney's Office and the New York State Defenders Association.
